UAT Analyst - II

Section 1: Position Summary

The UAT Analyst II (UAT II) must independently take ownership of UAT projects with complex test scopes.  The projects may be delivered over one or multiple interfaces or release phases.  In addition, the UAT Analyst II is expected to help guide the UAT Analyst I with scoping, analyzing, creating, and executing test scripts.  These test scripts will be used to validate that our internally-developed financial services software meets all specified user requirements.  This position requires prior experience as a UAT Analyst I, or Test Analyst within the financial services or participant recordkeeping industry.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned
  • Analyze and Plan (25%)
    • Analyze and comprehend Business Requirements documents             
    • Serve as a key person in ensuring user business expectations of upcoming deliverables are accurately established for each release phase.
    • Plan and coordinate technical support.

  • Create Test Plans (25%)
    • Accurately scope the UAT effort for each project
    • Ensure plan completeness by coordinating with the Business Analysts and QA teams as well as the business owner.
    • Help guide UAT I analysts when needed to ensure test plans are accurate and complete with prioritized test scope.


  • Execute Tests (20%)
    • Work independently or help mentor UAT I analysts to setup  or identify  test accounts and process testing activities within ACS test regions
    • Use test results to validate deliverables against established business expectations that may be conventional to ACS 529 applications or customized.
    • Re-test fixed issues and determine if the fix is adequate
  • Document Results (15%)                  
    • Report issues found during testing using defect-tracking application
    • Track and ensure proper resolution of issues in current or future phases.
    • Help guide UAT I analysts when needed with properly documenting  issues encountered  for problem report.  


  • Coordinate with Other Ascensus Personnel (15%)
    • Lead / facilitate internal meetings or conversations with the BSA’s, QA , Developers, UX as well as with CRA teams.
    • Communicate software issues with Development and QA teams
      • Clarify user-experienced issues/questions with internal users and/or subject matter experts.

Section 3:  Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience within financial services or similar software applications, performing testing of web-based customer service or similar applications.
  • Proficient with MS Office:  Word, and Excel, as well as working with industry-standard bug tracking and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with financial systems and participant transaction processing is preferred, especially 529 Plan, Mutual Fund Transfer Agency or 401k recordkeeping systems
  • Experience with web-based applications and interface conventions
  • Ability to create detailed test scenarios based on the expected user experience when working with the software application
  • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to translate technical terms into business terms as well as with written documentation.
  • Must be detail-oriented and analytical
  • Ability to adapt to changes in project scope and priority with minimum supervision.
  • To be proficient with the use of SQL query syntax to identify test data.
  • Drive to solve problems and improve inefficient processes
  • Proven ability to quickly grasp information and independently produce results
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating / leading meetings with internal stakeholders
