
Retirement Plan Specialist (Entry to Sr. level) Recent grads welcome!
Position Purpose: Primary responsibilities include providing consulting services to Ascensus clients through Ascensus’ technical access service, providing in-house consulting, conducting seminars, technical research, analysis and special projects as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Phones
- Answer 1-800 QRP queues
Training
- Conduct presentations at the ERISA technical consulting meeting or other internal ERISA department training
- Co-teach QRP seminars and webinars
Legal Retirement Plan Document Drafting
- Demonstrate a functional knowledge of Ascensus retirement plan documents
Forms
- Demonstrate a functional knowledge of Ascensus retirement plan forms and notices
Employer Level QRP Document Drafting
- Complete employer level qualified retirement plan documents
Employer Plan Document Reviews
- Review prototype document for application in Plan Services Group/Document Compliance Services
Fee-for-Service Engagements (Corrections, Controlled Group Determinations, Determination Letter Filings)
- Assist with fee-for-service engagements
- Independently create interdepartmental correspondence regarding fee-for-service engagements
- Assist with basic external fee-for-service consultations
Special Projects (IT, project management)
- Participate in special projects
Research
- Complete basic QRP research projects and present basic QRP research findings
Retirement Technical Knowledge (QRP and specialty plans (e.g., 403(b), 457, DB, Cash Balance, ESOP, non-qualified, 409A))
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the main features and common differences between the various plan types (e.g., QRP, 403(b), 457, DB, Cash Balance, ESOP)
Industry Knowledge
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the retirement plans industry including the applicable regulatory agencies (e.g., DOL and IRS)
Continuing Education
- Enhance technical and industry knowledge by attending continuing education classes
SLAs
- Meet department service level standards
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Probationary Period
- Complete QRP new associate training and pass oral evaluation within 12-18 weeks
Minimum Requirements:
Internal Exams
- Internal QP Oral Exam
Degrees
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field
