Marketing Content Strategist – Retail and Institutional Sales

Section 1: Position Summary

The Content Strategist will be responsible for setting the strategic vision, developing compelling content, implementing project plans, overseeing Marketing activities, and representing marketing internally and externally in support of key Ascensus retail and institutional sales partnerships. Success in this role will be centered on the ability to:

  • think strategically and creatively,
  • plan effectively with great forethought and attention to detail, 
  • consult and influence stakeholders and leaders to secure buy-in for ideas,
  • collaborate with, lead, and motivate team members, and
  • create meaningful copy that drives results

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Become intimately familiar with the needs of retail and institutional sales, which include leading financial institutions and investment firms, in order to identify and optimize marketing opportunities, meet business objectives, and ensure adherence to brand standards
  • Build relationships with and act as the primary contact for internal retail and institutional sales partners
  • Prepare marketing presentations that inspire confidence/excitement, present well-defined objectives,  demonstrate an achievable roadmap, and set measurable outcomes
  • Apply business, industry, and market knowledge to identify trends, connect dots, and make marketing recommendations
  • Represent marketing at key meetings to provide status updates, consultation, general project support, and innovative solutions
  • Create meaningful content that is clear, actionable, and engaging, including dynamic messaging that uses logic and data for a tailored user experience
  • Conduct periodic content audits to ensure materials remain current and compliant
  • Utilize Microsoft® Office Suite – Word®, PowerPoint® and Excel®—as well as web-based email, project management, and CMS software tools to assist in the management of workflow, content, planning, and other marketing operations
  • Participate in and adhere to quality control best practices related to proofreading, reviews, and securing approvals

Section 3:  Supervision 

  • Responsible for the creation and oversight of Marketing plans focused on product promotion, content development, growth, and sales
  • Manage all aspects of complex, integrated marketing campaigns, including print and digital content development, project planning, data, logic, and branding
  • Supervise projects to ensure adherence to established timelines and/or budgets

Section 4:  Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Visionary with ability to translate ideas into tactics and influence outcomes
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills
  • A client service-oriented approach to conducting business
  • An understanding of a regulated industry; financial services experience a plus
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and follow-through skills
  • Ability to manage complex projects independently and keep things moving
  • Strong attention to detail related to material accuracy, data, logic, consistency, brand standards, project planning, proofreading
  • Ability to provide consultative advice and work successfully in a team environment
  • Familiarity with publishing to content management systems, WordPress, Weebly, and SiteCore® a plus
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience. Samples and portfolio are required
  • Four-year college degree, marketing/communications or related field; Master’s degree highly desired
