Section 1: Position Summary

Form 5500 Specialist position requires a professional relationship and professional communication with plan sponsors, brokers and Wrangle staff and has significant importance due to the critical nature of the employee benefit administration function performed by Wrangle for its clients.  

Section 2: Job Punctions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs a comprehensive review of the Review 5500, making any needed updates, and then posts the 5500 and SAR out per the broker and/or plan sponsor instructions.
  • Puts forth effort to understand the broker, plan sponsor, plans and benefit/insurance data, and works collaboratively with the consultant and data collections contacts as necessary to address any questions or open items.
  • Updates tracking system with any missing information on the Schedule A’s or plan sponsor data, and moves the file back to Data Collections including both broker facing or carrier facing as needed.
  • Makes necessary updates daily on files sent back for updates/corrections. 
  • Checks with Consultant as needed to ensure updates in accordance with the Form 5500 Instructions are made.
  • Assists with peer 5500 reviews as needed to assist the flow of prepared 5500s.
  • Owns primary responsibility for preparing, reviewing and posting amended 5500s as well as Ticking and one-year DFVCs.
  • Assists with or takes responsibility for efiling on a daily basis.
  • Assists with preparing Form 5558 Extensions.
  • Assists and supports Consultants, 5500 Specialists and Data Collections as necessary and as directed by management to optimize the Wrangle process.
  • Manages multiple tasks effectively by balancing high productivity with excellent service quality
  • Adheres to all Wrangle and Ascensus standard operating procedures and controls
  • Works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of urgency and accuracy
  • Self-management in terms of following Wrangle’s Best Practices Form 5500 Timeline, responding to emails in a timely manner and ensuring that all data is received and entered in accurately is critical to success.
  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.
