Section 1: Position Summary

The DevOps Architect role is positioned between the Program Architect and the Principal DevOps Engineer and is responsible for providing technical direction and oversight of the application engineering/DevOps practices across scrum teams within a program. DevOps Architect works closely with Program Architects and Application Architects to understand business needs and provides strategic and tactical directions for specific initiatives. Promotes DevOps culture by examining the big picture, applying agile mindset and modern DevOps tools to accelerate the overall software deliver, promotes innovation, alternative solutions, reusability, stability, scalability, and consistency across programs. Provides ongoing technical oversight and mentoring across scrum teams to ensure they are progressing in accordance with established architecture direction.  Some participation as an individual contributor to assist scrum teams with complex tasks and POC's. Researches new technologies and tools to remain abreast of current and emerging technologies, and to introduce new opportunities for innovation. Passionate about quality and continuous delivery. 

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Identifies and provides oversight of the technical solutions for Source Control, Build and Deployment automation, Continuous Integration, Environment Monitoring.
  • Develops & evangelizes best practices for DevOps & CI/CD, API Management, Networking.
  • Provides technical direction for scrum teams for specific initiatives and assists with initial proof of concepts and template builds.
  • Participates in Technology/Architecture and design discussions and designing automation templates for infrastructure provisioning, configuration & change management, and developing the detailed technical design.
  • Leads researching on new tools/ technology solutions/processes, build consensus and plan to introduce cost justifiable technology to improve SDLC pipeline
  • Continually finds ways to optimize and build out a comprehensive architecture/strategy for supporting applications in production
  • The scope of work includes build, machine configuration, test infrastructure and virtual machine deployment.
  • Level-3 support for Production Environment

Section 3:  Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of Hands-on experience working as a DevOps/Build/Deployment and Engineering & Operations skills
  • Passion for leadership, mentoring, and coaching to help others succeed
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with ability to explain and influence architectural direction
  • Excellent technical skills with deep knowledge of development technologies and tools
  • Excels in a results focused organization
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and related tools
  • Hands-on experience in production environments, both deploying and troubleshooting applications in Windows /Linux environment.
  • Strong experience automating with scripting languages such as Power Shell, Python and any deployment scripting languages
  • Strong experience with CI/CD deployment supporting Microsoft technologies (IIS, Team Foundation Server (TFS, VSTS), GIT/ ProGit, Octopus Deploy and TeamCity is preferred)
  • Highly Proficient in Configuration Management (Puppet, Ansible, Chef or Similar)
  • Excellent understanding of Containerization, Docker & Kubernetes is required.
  • Excellent understanding of Micro-services architecture, design patterns, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale, automation, resiliency, high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Excellent understanding of networking, load balancing, caching, security, config and certificate management.
  • Working experience with Consul and NGINX+

  • Experience in larger Enterprise suites such as BPM, CRM, Portals, Content Management preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.

The national average salary range for this role is $150-200k in base pay, exclusive of any bonuses and benefits. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, performance, and internal pay alignment.
