Position Description:
This position will gain experience with both the Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Teams. Accounting responsibilities will include supporting the team with monthly financial close processes and other special projects. FP&A responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of financial analysis and reporting for the Ascensus Retirement division, and various finance projects and analyses. This position requires an accounting or finance major and strong spreadsheet skills. Accounting: • Responsible for the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations in connection with the monthly close process. • Assist with the preparation of monthly balance sheet account analyses including fluctuation analyses. • Use various systems to compile reports for monthly close tasks and processes. • Documentation and testing of compliance with internal controls. FP&A: • Assist in monthly P&L analysis and attend monthly flash meetings to review results. • Help compile monthly reporting packages for distribution to senior management. • Assist with various analysis projects. (ex: profitability studies utilized by senior management for pricing decisions, budget/forecast preparation, and ad hoc requests). General: • Gain experience with ERP and Reporting systems such as CloudSuite and Cognos TM1. • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.
