Section 1: Position Summary

Ascensus is looking for Lead User Experience Designer for its public website evolution. We need a user-centered evangelist who can help modernize infrastructure, drive experiential improvements, and guide our public websites towards becoming a growth engine for the firm. You’ll collaborate with clients, sales and technology to translate business goals into scalable solutions that delivery results. We’re looking for a systems thinker who can design componentry and patterns that solve problems across our portfolio of sites, someone who is excited by empowering other designers, and has a passion for the intricacies for content architecture, dynamism and structure.  

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Website UX & design leadership
    • Design user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for public websites
    • Partner with content team to manage overall approach to site navigation, taxonomy, metadata, and dynamic content
    • Leverage user research, journey mapping, and competitive analysis to understand user needs and identify opportunities
    • Collaborate with product, marketing, analytics, and engineering stakeholders to align design with strategic objectives
    • Conduct usability testing (qualitative and quantitative), review analytics and interpret results to iterate on solutions
  • Design system expertise
    • Help create a scalable design system of atomic components, patterns, and documentation, for responsive web, leveraging Figma’s design system features
    • Maintain a single source of design truth for components that includes specs, usage and accessibility guidelines
    • Ensure cohesive visual language and interaction design throughout all websites
    • Partner with engineering and creative teams to integrate and evolve the design system effectively

•           Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

Section 3:  Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Design
    • 10+ years of experience in User Experience Design, design systems, digital content design, B2B marketing or adjacent fields
    • Expert skills in Figma
    • Demonstrate strong UX and design skill via portfolio or case studies with examples
    • Understanding of current trends and future direction of design
    • Demonstrate ability to problem solve and provide directional guidance in whitespace
    • Strong attention to detail related to material accuracy, version control, design element consistency, and brand standards
    • Expert understanding of UX, web, mobile best practices
    • Strong understanding of marketing technology, data capabilities and emerging technologies and how to use this knowledge to inform your work
  • Leadership
    • Ability to lead and influence design work with stakeholders and partners
    • Be a go-to resource for UX design related questions
  • Collaboration
    • Expert cross-functional collaboration skills
    • Some experience in facilitation of workshops or user-testing is preferred
    • Interest in participating and advocation in the broader design community at Ascensus
  • Communication
    • Ability to give and receive feedback and interpret critique to enhance project outcomes.
    • Ability to present and communicate work, ideas and concepts effectively to stakeholders and leadership
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The national average salary range for this role is  $155-175k in base pay, exclusive of any bonuses and benefits. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, performance, and internal pay alignment.
